What you can expect from this app, and what it expects from you. It is short because the arrangement is simple: it is free, your writing is yours, and it is run by one person rather than a company.

Using Mind Universe means agreeing to what is on this page. If something here does not suit you, the right move is not to make an account — and if you already have one, take your writing out with the export offered under Leaving in Settings and say so, and it will be removed.

What this is

Mind Universe is a place to write down thoughts, dreams and ideas, and to be shown the threads running between them. It is a personal project, offered free, with no paid tier and nothing to buy.

What this is not

It is not medicine, therapy, or advice. The app writes a short reading back to you about what is in your words — that is a description of what you wrote, not an interpretation of you, and it is sometimes written by an AI, which means it is sometimes wrong. Nothing here diagnoses anything and nothing here should be relied on for a decision about your health.

If you are in crisis, this app is the wrong place to be. Please talk to somebody you trust, or a support line where you live.

Your account

• You need to be at least 18, or older where the law you live under sets a higher age for agreeing to this on your own.
• Give an email address that is really yours. It is the only way back in if you forget your password.
• Keep your password to yourself, and tell the address at the bottom of this page if you think somebody else has got into your account.
• One person per account. An account is not for sharing or handing on.

What you write stays yours

Everything you write here belongs to you. Making an account gives this app permission to do one thing with it: store it and show it to the people you chose when you wrote it — which for a private entry is nobody but you.

That permission covers the ordinary mechanics of running the app: keeping a copy in the database, keeping backups, showing a public entry in the feed, and sending an entry to an AI service for its reading, as the privacy page describes. It covers nothing else. Your writing is not advertised against, sold, published elsewhere, or used to train a model by this app.

Delete an entry and it goes. Delete the account and all of it goes.

What not to do here

• Do not post anything illegal, or anything that exists to threaten, harass or humiliate somebody.
• Do not post other people's writing or pictures as though they were yours.
• Do not post somebody else's private details.
• Do not use somebody else's account, or try to reach entries that were not meant for you.
• Do not scrape the app, hammer it automatically, or try to knock it over. The rate limits are there for everybody's sake; going around them is going around other people.

Other people's public entries are readable here. Reading them is the point; taking them somewhere else, or feeding them to something, is not.

Reporting and blocking

Any entry, comment or message written by somebody else, and any person, can be reported from the … menu next to it. Whoever runs this app reads every report, and can remove what was reported, give a warning, or close an account. You are not told what came of a report, and the person reported is never told who made it.

The same menu can block somebody. Neither of you then sees the other's entries, comments or messages, and you stop following each other. They are not told. It can be undone from Settings, under Blocked people.

A report is not a way of settling an argument. Reports made in bad faith, or in bulk to silence somebody, are treated as the abuse they are.

It can go wrong

This app is offered as it is. It is one person's work running on rented hosting, and no promise is made that it will be available, that it will not lose something, or that the readings it writes will be right or useful. It may be interrupted, changed, or — with as much warning as can be given — stopped altogether.

So: keep your own copy of anything you would be sorry to lose. The export offered under Leaving in Settings hands you everything in one file, it takes a moment, and it is the single most useful thing on this page.

As far as the law allows, the person running this app is not liable for anything lost through using it. Nothing here takes away a right you have that cannot be signed away.

Ending it

You can stop at any time, without asking anybody. Settings, at the bottom, under Leaving: it offers you your export, asks for your password, and then deletes the account and everything in it for good. If you cannot get in to do that, write to the address below and it is done by hand.

An account can be closed from this end too, for the things in What not to do here — abuse of somebody else, illegal material, or an attempt to break the app for everybody. Where a warning is the fairer answer, that is what happens instead.

Changes to these terms

The date at the top is the last time this page changed. If something changes that actually affects you, it will be said in the app rather than quietly edited in here.
